IT IS AN HONOR to welcome back our amazing community of cyclists and runners to this years 13th Annual WATA Gravel Grinder. It won't be the exact same as years past but it will be as close as we can get it while still living in a pandemic. The WATA crew is excited to be able to see all your masked faces out there this year in a safe way while still having our BIGGEST fundraiser of the year.

Online registration:

$60, includes a limited edition 2021 Gravel Grinder t-shirt, aid stations, and food and beer tickets after the event. Register by May 9 to recieve a t-shirt on the day of the event. Register after this date and pick-up locally on a date after the event is over.

*We also have a "Self-Guided Grind" ride this year for anyone who might not be quite stoked on riding with folks outside their family yet. We'll map out the route for you and have a shirt waiting for local pick-up and you can complete the ride any time you'd like.

Note: We will be capping this event at 150 attendees this year to maximize safety and fun. Be sure to register early to make sure you get your spot!

Ride Start: WAVES of 25 riders will begin starting at 9:00AM, Sunday, May 23. We will notify you of which wave you are in at lease one day prior depending on which ride you register for. Onsite registration and online registration check-in opens at 8 AM. Get there early so you have time to check in, pick up your T-shirt, and have some breakfast from our amazing sponsors.

Routes

The Traditional Grinder: This route will be 28 miles with about 2800' of climbing and lots of dirt winding through the hills of Waterbury. The route will be the classic to keep nostalgia high.

The Big Grind: A ~50 mile route with even more climbing and gravelly goodness. Really want to test your early season legs? Stoked on the Traditional Grinder but want to see if you can push it a little farther? This one's for you.

Refreshments

Pre-ride breakfast: STAY TUNED

On the ride: We're still kitting out the mid-ride aid stations, but we will make sure you are fueled for miles ahead.  All snacks and beverages will be pre-packaged.

Post-ride refuel: After the ride, The Blackback Pub will be serving up a tasty and satisfying meal. They've taken great care of us in the past and we're stoked they're back this year.  Beverages will be brewerd by some of the finest in the country and supplied by the Vermont Beer Shepherd.

This is our largest and most important annual fundraiser. It's always a blast and this year is going to be the best ever. All proceeds from the event directly support trail building and maintenance in the Waterbury Area--Perry Hill, Little River State Park, and elsewhere. They also help fund our long-range plans to link WATA trails to other local trail systems. So, come on out for a great day of riding and support the trails while you're doing it!
